She became the first athlete to ever win five gold medals in a track event at the World Athletics Championships in the same discipline.

Two-time Olympic 100m champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce will return to Kenya for the Kip Keino Classic slated for Saturday, May 13 at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.

Fraser-Pryce was part of the elite group that took part in last year’s event that was staged on May 7 at the same venue. She obliterated a strong field to win the 100m race in 10.67, a world-leading time.

Egypt’s Bassant Hemida settled for second place in a personal best time of 11.02 as USA’s Shanon Ray placed third in 11.33. Maximila Imali competing on home soil managed a seventh-place finish in 11.46.

The five-time world 100m champion extended her hot streak to last year’s World Championships in Oregon to win the 100m.

With the feat, she became the first athlete to ever win five gold medals in a track event at the World Athletics Championships in the same discipline.

The 36-year-old had earlier last month announced that she will kick-off her track season at the Botswana Golden Grand prix on Saturday, April 29.
