Despite Faith Kipyegon's unexpected withdrawal from the Sirikwa Classic, Agnes Ngetich praised her as a legend and a mentor, expressing deep admiration for her influence in the sport.
At Saturday’s Sirikwa Classic Cross-Country Championships in Eldoret, all eyes were on Faith Kipyegon to deliver in the senior women’s 10km race but things changed unexpectedly.
Faith Kipyegon was going up against serial cross-country runners, including 10km world record holder Agnes Ngetich, but you can never underestimate the 1500m world record holder's power.
The triple Olympic 1500m champion won the race in 2023 and was hoping to reclaim her title, a goal that became far from reach when Agnes Ngetich opened a huge gap between herself and Faith Kipyegon.
