Chesir competed in the Half Marathon earlier this year, April 16, and managed a fourth place in 1:01:20 but his results have since been disqualified.

The Poznan Half Marathon organizers have nullified Kenyan athlete Shadrack Chesir's results after in-competition testing revealed the presence of prohibited substances in his samples.

Chesir competed in the Half Marathon earlier this year, April 16, and managed a fourth place in 1:01:20 but his results have since been disqualified.

Taking to their Twitter account, the organisers of the race noted that the decision does not change the order on the podium and they will communicate the official results in due time.

They said: “Player disqualification. On May 17, 2023, after opening the test results, the presence of prohibited substances was found in the competitor Shadrack Chesir (KEN), who finished the 15th Poznań Half Marathon as the 4th.

The decision does not change the order on the podium. We will announce the official race results soon.”

This comes shortly after the suspension of Atlanta Half Marathon champion Nicholas Kosimbei and world 10km road race record holder Rhonex Kiputo.

More information is yet to be shared by the organisers of the event.
