The Ulinzi Sports Complex, as things stand, does not meet the requirements of a certified World Athletics stadium, but Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has reassured fans ahead of the event.

The Olympian has expressed her disappointment at the poor treatment subjected to sportsmen and women in Kenya, warning foreign-born athletes against switching allegiance.

“We have no reason to panic; we are a country with alternatives, and we shall continue to shine. This event is not for fun; we are a country known for athletics, and this is an opportunity to continue to shine.”
Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, 2016 Rio Olympic Games silver medallist Julius Yego and reigning world under-20 800m champion Sarah Moraa lead the home charge.
