'My guy needs to retire' - Fans react as injury sidelines Marcell Jacobs yet again
Former Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs will be out for about one month due to an injury, forcing him to miss the showdown against Letsile Tebogo and Kishane Thompson among other sprinters in the Diamond League.
Marcell Jacobs had been confirmed for the Diamond League Meeting in Suzhou where he would take on some of his serial rivals including Olympic 200m champion Tebogo and 100m silver medallist Thompson.
However, that will not happen since the Italian sprinter has suffered a thigh injury, according to a report by Track Spice and will not be competing for a month or more.

The world 4x100m silver medallist was also due to compete at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo, Japan but he will not be in action due to the injury.
Following the announcement, tons of fans flooded the comment section, with some arguing that it might be time for the 30-year-old to hang his spikes and focus on other things.
They expressed disappointment in his series of injuries that have forced him out of major clashes and denied him a chance to showcase his full potential in major competitions like the World Championships and Olympic Games.
“He should retire. His body obviously isn’t made for this,” one fan said.
“It’s like he is heading to early retirement if injuries keep him in this state every season,” another shared.
“I just realise that Sprinters who are married usually perform poorly (Jacobs, Bromell, Bracy..). I think sprinting is a single game,” a fan shared their opinion.

“Well, with all due respect, he had no chance, only in the relays and that's if USA or Jamaica messes up the handoffs...,” another fan noted.
“My guy needs to retire. Injury blow after injury blow in every season. Him announcing an injury isn’t even a surprise now,” one fan shared.
“Sucks he couldn't stay healthy but he'll always be an Olympic champ,” another fan commented.
The injury now locks him out of the Diamond League Meetings early in the season and some meets as athletes prepare for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
However, since the season is long and the global showpiece comes in September, Marcell Jacobs has a chance to recover and bounce back just in time for the event.
