Mary Moraa has punched her ticket to the final of the women's 400m race at the African Games after winning the semifinal.
Reigning world 800m champion Mary Moraa was in a class of her own yet again as she delivered a superb run to successfully proceed to the final of the 400m race at the African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Moraa started in a promising way and maintained the momentum until she crossed the finish line first, leaving a massive gap between herself and her closest challenger.

African Games organisers have announced the money that has been set aside for the top three finishers at the continental event.
She clocked an impressive 51.55 to win the race ahead of Zambia’s Quincy Malekani who has also qualified for the final after clocking 52.18. Asimwenye Simwaka completed the podium in 53.18 but she will not be competing in the final.
Moraa did not hesitate to share the good news with her fans, posting on her Facebook page saying: “Superbly delivered semi-final victory in 51.55 seconds, punched a ticket to the final.”

Maureen Thomas, one of Mary Moraa's training mates, has opened up on how it is a plus to train and compete with the reigning world 800m champion.
The 23-year-old was not done with the assignment on the opening day since she was also part of the 4x400m mixed relay team which she led to a second-place finish to directly qualify for the final.
Botswana led in their heat, clocking a national record time of 3:14.36 with Team Kenya coming in second after clocking 3:18.42 and South Africa sealed the podium in 3:19.63.
