The much-hyped sprint clash between Olympic champion Noah Lyles and NFL superstar Tyreek Hill has been cancelled, sparking fresh drama with former World Champion Fred Kerley.

Hill’s Sprint Fuels Tension

Tyreek Hill took a jab at Noah Lyles after a 100m sprint.

The cancellation comes on the heels of Tyreek Hill’s electrifying 100m performance at the "Last Chance Sprint Series," where he clocked an impressive 10.15 seconds.

That time would have qualified Hill for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, a remarkable feat for someone outside the professional sprinting circuit.

Hill capitalized on the moment, taunting Lyles online for backing out.

While Hill downplayed the performance as “jogging,” a video posted on June 25 revealed the full extent of his sprinting effort, showing him hitting 21.8 mph.

The clip was captioned with an ambitious target of reaching 26 mph, fueling further speculation.

The buzz didn’t stop there. Olympic silver medalist Fred Kerley inserted himself into the narrative, responding to Hill’s post with the dismissive comment, writing, “That all.”

Fans immediately took notice, interpreting it as a challenge or at least a sign of brewing rivalry.

When asked about a possible race with Hill, Kerley didn’t reveal much, merely replying “that fam,” adding to the intrigue without confirming anything.

The exchange has triggered excitement among fans, many of whom now see Kerley as a potential replacement to reignite the excitement Lyles' exit left behind.

A Rivalry That Never Materialized

Noah Lyles vs Tyreek Hill
Noah Lyles (L) and Tyreek Hill (R) have been at each other's throats since the 2024 Olympics.

The original rivalry between Lyles and Hill has been a slow-burn story since Lyles' Olympic success.

Hill had openly challenged Lyles to a race, prompting the track star to label Hill as a "clout chaser."

Lyles mocked Hill’s tendency to call out elite athletes and even brought up NFL receiver DK Metcalf, who had participated in a legitimate track meet, as someone Hill should have competed against if he was serious.

After securing his fourth consecutive 60m title at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, Lyles escalated the beef by holding up a cheeky bib reading, “Tyreek could never.”

Hill fired back in kind at a USATF meet, unveiling a banner that read, “NOAH COULD NEVER.”

Although the two had verbally agreed to a race, it never came to fruition.

Hill, appearing on the Glory Daze podcast, vented his frustration and bluntly stated his dislike for Lyles, suggesting that the track star was never truly serious about racing him.

But with Fred Kerley now hinting at a possible faceoff, the drama may not be over just yet.
