Despite a pre-race injury scare, Oblique Seville overcame the odds to finish second behind Kishane Thompson and book his spot at the World Championships.
Oblique Seville had an injury scare at the starting line of the men’s 100m final at the Jamaican Championships and at some point, thought he would not make the podium.
The 24-year-old was seen sitting in pain and was even pictured limping, just before the race started, since the organisers had also kept the 100m runners for longer than expected.
However, when the gun went off, Oblique Seville had a great start off the blocks, securing second place in 9.83 seconds behind Kishane Thompson, who clocked 9.75 seconds, the fastest time in the world since 2015. Ackeem Blake completed the podium in 9.88 seconds.
