Ferdinand Omanyala has paused international competitions as he shifts focus to the next phase of his season.
Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, will not be competing in any international races and has hinted at plans to take up the 200m until August as he gears up for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Ferdinand Omanyala made the revelation during Athletics Kenya’s National Championships, where he competed in the 100m and 200m.
He claimed the win in the men’s 100m, clocking 10.08 seconds and is still in the hunt for a sub-10 performance. Steve Odhiambo and Meshack Babu finished second and third in respective times of 10.27 and 10.31.

Ferdinand Omanyala added that they will be making some changes in his training and hinted at being unstoppable in the 200m going forward.
He revealed that the first part of the season is now over, with their main focus shifting to the second part after he accomplished most of the goals he had in mind.

“It was a good 150m…I can’t say much about it, but that was a proper race. I mean, yeah, I would do the 200m in the future,” Ferdinand Omanyala revealed after the race.
“We decided to come here and see what we could do, but that was a good 200m. Based on our training program, we’ve not done anything more than a 180m, so I’m looking forward to what will happen when we start doing the long events. We decided to go from the short to the longer approach.”

Now, Ferdinand Omanyala has taken a break and will be focused on working on some of the things that cost him at the start of the season.
Omanyala will not be competing in any international events until around August, just before the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
“This phase was really about getting on the podiums, and I’m glad I did in 14 out of 15 races. That is done, and now we are going to focus on the World Championships, which is the most important and hitting it hard. Now, we’ve taken a break, we’ll be back in August,” Ferdinand Omanyala revealed.
