Reigning Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred has explained the strategy she used to beat Shericka Jackson in the 300m at the Miramar Invitational.
Julien Alfred crossed the finish line in an impressive 36.05 seconds ahead of two-time world 200m champion Shericka Jackson who came in second in 36.13 seconds. Jessika Gbai rounded up the podium in 36.24 seconds.
Both Julien Alfred and Shericka Jackson were launching their outdoor seasons and the former has explained how she managed to win the race over the fastest woman alive in the 200m.

Julien Alfred was not focused on the time she would clock and was looking forward to executing the race as she had been told by Coach Edrick Floreal.
The world 200m silver medallist disclosed that the 300m was more focused towards making her 200m perfect and things are looking up at the moment.
“Coach Flo told me before I left Austin, ‘Just go out there and win.’ That was the assignment. We weren’t overthinking it, we’ve just been putting in the work,” Julien Alfred said as quoted by Sports Max TV.

Julien Alfred was not astonished to have beaten Shericka Jackson in the race. She added that executing the race well was the main goal and was glad to have achieved that.
Her physique has also greatly changed and she explained that they have been working out something and she is happy that the pieces are coming together nicely.
“I was happy with how I executed. My coach was happy and that’s what really matters. He sees the big picture. I trust him,” she added.
