Jamaican sprint sensation will be opening his outdoor season at the Miramar Invitational this weekend.

Jamaican youngster Kishane Thompson will open his 2024 season at the Miramar Invitational scheduled for Saturday, April 6 at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida.

Thompson’s last race was at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final where he managed to finish fourth, clocking an impressive time of 9.87 to cross the finish line.

Last season, the 22-year-old managed to finish as the fastest Jamaican, thanks to the time he clocked to finish second at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen. He clocked a stunning 9.85 to cross the line.

He admitted to having been suffering from an injury setback and could not therefore perform his best but he will be hoping to bounce back this season with eyes set on the Olympics.

Earlier this year, the Jamaican explained that he would be looking to go for everything this season. He also expressed gratitude for the breakthrough and the experience he had last year as well as exuding confidence that as time goes by, the world will surely witness what he can do.

"The plan for this year is to go harder than ever, and to stay healthy, and to show you guys what I can do. I am pretty grateful for what happened last year — because most people would say it is my breakout year — but I am here now and little by little you guys will see what I am made of," he said.

The sprint sensation also noted that he is not under any pressure to do well and he will only focus on his goals.

"There is no pressure on me at all this year because mentally, I am stable. Yes, most certainly I can run a lot faster. Because seeing the little that I did and I made the most of it, I am very optimistic that I can do more now and the results are going to be greater. Injury-wise I am good. I am far better now than last season, and we are managing it,” he said.
