Eliud Kipchoge has shared one of the most important things Team Kenya should implement as they seek to shine at the Olympic Games.

Two-time Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has offered advice to his teammates ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games scheduled for later this year.

As Kipchoge chases history, he would also want to see his teammates, newly-crowned London Marathon champion Alexander Munyao and Tokyo Marathon champion Benson Kipruto triumph at the event. Timothy Kiplagat has also been selected to the team as a reserve.

The women’s field will be headlined by defending champion Peres Jepchirchir who will be joined by two-time Boston Marathon champion Hellen Obiri and former world marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei. The 2022 New York City Marathon champion Sharon Lokedi has been selected as a reserve.

Kipchoge has made it clear that he wants to bag his third title, to become the first man to ever do it. The 39-year-old became Olympic marathon champion at both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 and is currently tied for two golds with Abebe Bikila (1960 & 1964) and Waldemar Cierpinski (1976 & 1980).

“As always, we are going to Paris as a team and not as individuals…this is the Games and not a World Marathon Major. These are the Olympic Games and we have to go as a team,” Kipchoge insisted as he was addressing the media.

The four-time London Marathon champion also extended a hand of gratitude to Athletics Kenya and the National Olympic Committee of Kenya for selecting a formidable team.

He promised to work hard as the team looks to represent Kenya in a good way and bring medals back home.

“We say thank you very much to Athletics Kenya and NOC-K for actually placing us in Team Kenya. For the next three months we are going to train in a good way and represent our country in a great way and bring back great results,” he added.
