Zak Vyner's injury timeline leading up to his Wrexham move began at Bristol City in January 2026, when he suffered a torn ankle ligament during a match against Ipswich Town.

Following his permanent transfer to Wrexham on February 1, his debut was further delayed by a separate toe problem that kept him out of the squad for much of the month.

Zak Vyner finally returned to training in late February and made his first appearance as a late substitute in a 2–1 victory over Portsmouth on February 24, 2026.

Wrexham Coach Speaks on Zak Vyner’s Progress Ahead of Charlton Athletic Match

Wrexham are now preparing to face Charlton Athletic, where Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje plays, and from the coach’s statement, Zak Vyner will likely play.

“No, Zach's fine. I'd say it's been good in a way that we've been doing well. It's given him the time to get his toe completely right. He's training again today,” Phil Parkinson told Wrexham in a pre-match conference.

Meanwhile, Wrexham head coach said his side is expecting another demanding encounter against Charlton Athletic, noting that recent meetings between the two clubs have consistently been closely contested affairs, regardless of venue.

He reflected on previous visits, recalling the strong backing from the home supporters and the intensity that the environment creates for opposition teams.

He added that playing at The Valley presents a significant test, particularly when the stands are packed, and stressed that his players are fully aware of the challenge awaiting them.

The coach also acknowledged Charlton’s recent form, pointing out that they have picked up encouraging results and continue to show clear structure and discipline under Nathan Jones.

According to him, Jones’ sides are typically industrious, tactically sound and difficult to break down, qualities he believes are essential at the Championship level. He concluded by saying his team is preparing for a high-level contest and expects a fiercely competitive match.

“Yeah, good. Always have competitive games at Charlton over the last couple of years. Sorry, both home and away. And yeah, it's a great stadium, especially when there's 20,000 plus in there. And we went down there in the league last year, and it was a great atmosphere,” he added.

“And yeah, it's going to be a really good game. They've had some good results, and yeah, like all Nathan's teams, they're very hard working, very organised and yeah, showing all the qualities you need to be a championship team.”
