‘You'll face the consequence’ - Ex-Premier League star claims Juric was wrong to put his hands on Lookman
Atalanta secured a narrow 1-0 Champions League victory over Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday night.
During the game, in the 75th minute of the goalless match, Lookman was substituted for Yunus Musah.
While the rest of the bench applauded the forward, Juric appeared to confront him. When Lookman did not engage, the manager physically pulled him back, leading to a heated exchange on the sideline.
Deeney slams Juric
A panel of pundits strongly disagreed with the manager's handling of the situation. Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, Troy Deeney argued that Juric crossed a fundamental line.
“Altercations happen all the time, but when you physically put your hands on somebody, at that point, you're not going to have a conversation again,” Deeney explained.
“There's nothing you can say to them today, tomorrow, or next week that'll make them forget that you did that to them in front of everyone.”
The former Premier League forward continued, “We've all had arguments, we've all had frustrations... but no one ever gets to the point of putting their hands on, and that's the point for me. If you want to put your hands on somebody, then just know you'll face the consequence.”
The incident adds to reports of Lookman’s strained relationships with Atalanta's coaching staff.
Amid interest from clubs like Galatasaray, speculation is growing that the forward could seek a move during the winter transfer window.
