You will cry again — Chelsea icon Gallas warns Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of 2026 World Cup
Cristiano Ronaldo led Portugal to the UEFA Nations League title in June and will be hoping to carry that winning spirit into next year's World Cup.
The 40-year-old icon, who captained Portugal to the 2016 UEFA European Championship and two Nations League triumphs, has yet to win the FIFA World Cup, the pinnacle of international football.
Portugal’s quarterfinal exit in the 2022 World Cup, won by Lionel Messi’s Argentina, was a particularly painful one.
Ronaldo, who recently extended his Al Nassr contract until 2027, will get one last chance to win at the 2026 World Cup.
However, former Premier League star William Gallas believes Ronaldo’s dream may remain unfulfilled.
Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas said, as per GOAL, “Cristiano Ronaldo will be at the World Cup next summer, and either way, it’ll be emotional. He may not be able to start games anymore, but he can still come off the bench.
Portugal look strong - but it’ll be incredibly hard for Ronaldo to fulfil his dream. It will probably end in tears.”
