Fans were looking forward to see world 10km record holder Agnes Jebet compete at the trials but the 23-year-old was a no-show.
Jebet was also expected to compete at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene, USA which worked as the Athletics Kenya trials for the 25-lap race. Jebet also missed out on competing in the 5000m at the Kenyan trials held at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The women’s 10,000m will now be represented by world record holder Beatrice Chebet, Lilian Kasait and Margaret Chelimo while the 5000m will have double world record holder Faith Kipyegon, Chebet and Chelimo representing.

In a post on her Instagram page, Jebet explained that she experienced health issues that forced her to skip the trials but noted that she is now back to training and intends to return to full training on Monday, June 24.
“I’m writing to inform everyone who has been asking and wondering that due to health reasons, I was advised to skip the trials in Eugene and Nairobi.
“Currently, I am engaging in full training (no ground impact) and will gradually resume impact training from Monday, June 24. I am looking forward to competing again and hope to see everyone soon,” Jebet said.

The young talent had been off to a great start to her season, where she shattered the 10km road race world record in Valencia.
The youngster then proceeded to the Adizero Road to Records where she threatened the late Agnes Tirop’s women-only world record. She was oozing class at the World Cross Country national trials, where she won the race before finishing fifth at the global showpiece in Belgrade, Serbia.
After the event, she has yet to step foot on the track or the road for any race but she is anticipating to come back to competing.
