When I Talk, I Am Called Arrogant - Harambee Stars Midfielder Questions Double Standards From Fans
Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna has opened up about how different his comments are treated from those of other players, as he referenced Enock Morrison’s statement ahead of Gor Mahia’s clash against Tusker.
Kenneth Muguna was under fire a few days ago following comments he made after Harambee Stars lost 8-0 to Senegal in an international friendly.
The former Kenya Police FC midfielder pointed out that fans had always been scrutinising the national team and insisting that local players should be given more chances, especially after Kenya lost 3-1 to Gambia in a World Cup qualifier.
However, Kenneth Muguna noted that experienced players are needed in such cases, and he suggested that if the likes of Michael Olunga had been included, then Harambee Stars would not have lost that much.
“I will never be afraid to break the protocol or to speak. After our match against Gambia, fans questioned Coach Benni's decision of including experienced players. Now you see why those players are important in the National team setup. Hate or love me, I'll always be real,” he said.
Kenneth Muguna: When I Talk, They Say I Am Arrogant
On his part, Enock Morrison was warning Gor Mahia’s rivals to be prepared as they will take every match seriously in a bid to make up for all the losses they endured last season.
The Gor Mahia midfielder noted that they want to win the league, after walking away from the previous season trophyless.
“Every point we lost last year, we are going to take it this season. If you know you are a team and you took points from us, then just prepare for your turn because we are taking those points back,” Morrison said.
“We are feeling perfect; it has been enough rest for us, and the international break has given the consistent players time to rest and come back fresh. We hope to pick up where we left off.
“We are taking every game seriously; every game is important for us, and we are going to approach it with the seriousness it deserves.”
Replying to the tweet that had been shared on X (Twitter), Kenneth Muguna called out Kenyan fans for always picking sides.
He claimed that whenever he makes any comments concerning Kenyan football, people always tend to call him all sorts of names, but that does not apply to other players.
“But when muguna talks/tweets Muguna is arrogant 🤣 ... The double standard we have in this beautiful country called Kenya is shocking 🤣🤣🤣,” he said.
Kenneth Muguna urged fans to judge players fairly and consistently, insisting that honest opinions should not be condemned simply because of who says them.
