We will not take financial risks' - Galatasaray president throws doubt into Osimhen agreement
As speculation swirls around Victor Osimhen’s future, Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has revealed his thoughts on the transfer Saga.
Despite growing fan excitement and viral social media activity hinting at a permanent move, Özbek insists the Turkish giants will not sacrifice financial discipline in pursuit of the Nigerian superstar.
Ozbek warns of caution as Osimhen’s transfer buzz gains momentum
In a radio interview with Radyospor, Galatasaray’s top executive made it clear that no transfer, no matter how appealing, will be allowed to compromise the club’s long-term financial health.
“Everything at Galatasaray proceeds within our financial framework,” said Özbek. “We have never made a move that would put the club in a difficult economic position, and we won’t start now. This also applies to the Osimhen case.”
The comment comes as a surprise, especially considering recent reports that Galatasaray were ready to meet Osimhen’s €75 million release clause at Napoli after agreeing a €16m per season deal with the Nigerian.
For many fans, Özbek’s remarks suggest that while talks may be ongoing, a final deal is far from certain.
Osimhen teases return, but uncertainty remains
Despite no official confirmation, Victor Osimhen has done little to cool transfer talk. The 25-year-old forward posted a video on his Instagram Story showing him in Galatasaray gear, celebrating in the locker room and leading chants with teammates.
His affection for the club is no secret. After a remarkable loan spell where he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 games, Osimhen quickly became a beloved figure in Istanbul.
However, Özbek’s comments now cast doubt over how close the two sides truly are to sealing a permanent reunion. Until a financial compromise is found between Galatasaray and Napoli, the move remains a tantalising “maybe.”
