[WATCH] - Tobi Amusan's epic celebration and dance after breaking Glory Alozie's African Record in Astana
In just her first race of the season, Tobi Amusan has already taken the spotlight as one to watchout for after smashing Glory Alozie's African Record (AR) at the World Indoor Tour Gold in Astana.
The World Record (WR) holder in the women's 100m Hurdles, blazed to an exceptional time of 7.77s to win the 60m Hurdles final, thus breaking Alozie's 25-year-old AR of 7.82s.
Her ground-breaking time also propelled her to second on the world list behind Devynne Charlton's 7.75s, and it is her fastest ever career season opener.
After the race seeing the outstanding feat she had achieved, Amusan couldn't contain her emotion as she jumped up for joy in elation that got her peers surprised and clapping.

Amusan's hilarious celebration could have been for several reasons, but one will be that she wasn't expecting to run that fast at this stage of the season, and her performance only bodes for the greater things to come this year.
Since the end of the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, where she fell short of defending her world title, the Nigerian hurdling queen has been undefeated in her races, highlighted by successfully defending her Diamond League trophy for the third consecutive time.
