[WATCH]: Moment Ahmed Refaat collapsed on the pitch before slipping into coma four months ago

Shocking footage has emerged showing the tragic final moments of Egyptian footballer Ahmed Refaat's life before he tragically passed away over the weekend.
Refaat, who played as a striker for the Egypt national team as well as club side Future FC, collapsed suddenly on the pitch in the dying minutes of a match on March 11 this year.

The distressing video shows the 31-year-old crumpling to the ground without warning as his teammates played on. Medics can be seen frantically trying to resuscitate Refaat before he is rushed to hospital.
Tragically, Refaat never regained consciousness, slipping into a coma that he would sadly never recover from. His club Future confirmed his passing in a heartbreaking statement on Saturday.

With great patience, sadness and more faith in Allah's will and destiny, Modern Sport Club announces the death of Ahmed Refaat, the first team player and the Egyptian national team, following a severe deterioration in his health condition," the statement read.
He was transferred to the hospital, to Allah, after a difficult journey of struggle after the health crisis that happened to him on March 11th. 2024."

Refaat had represented Egypt seven times at senior international level, including featuring alongside Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.
Salah was left devastated by the news, posting a heartbroken emoji on Twitter along with the message.
