WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup: Boniface, Adebayo among 20 Flamingos for Ghana

FIFA World Cup scorers Shakirat Moshood and Harmony Chidi have been chosen by head coach Bankole Olowookere among 20 players for the Nigeria U17 girls team known as Flamingos for the WAFU B U17 Girls' Cup.

In addition, there are strikers Peace Effiong and Mary Lucky Nkpa, midfielder Faridat Abdulwahab, defenders Taiwo Adegoke and Ayomide Ibrahim, and goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma.

The Flamingos, together with the U17 girls from Niger Republic and Cote d'Ivoire, are in group B of the two-week competition.

In group A, hosts Ghana will play Benin Republic after Burkina Faso withdrew as Togo had already pulled out of the competition.

After scoring nine goals in the group stage, Nigeria's U17 girls advanced to the quarterfinals in the most recent FIFA U17 Women's World Cup finals in the Dominican Republic before losing to the United States of America.
