Vitor Roque calls Barcelona move a ‘dream move’, set for Catalonian debut

Roque's arrival at Camp Nou comes with high expectations, underscored by a staggering €500m release clause—a testament to his potential.

With an impressive record of 28 goals and 11 assists in 81 appearances for Athletico Paranaense, Roque's credentials are solid. His transfer to Barcelona is not just a significant career milestone; it's the fulfilment of a lifelong dream. 

In his own words, Roque expressed his disbelief and joy over joining a club he has always admired, especially considering the legacy of Brazilian legends like Romario and Neymar who have graced Camp Nou.

"At first I didn't believe it. After a while, it became serious. I spoke to my father and, when it was confirmed, I was very happy because I was making my dream come true," Roque told Barcelona's official media.

"I've been a Barca fan all my life. It was my only option. It is the best club in the world and it was always my dream to play here. Great idols like Romario and Neymar have also played for this team and they made history. It will be a pleasure to defend this shirt."

Roque's potential debut for Barcelona might happen against Las Palmas on January 4, in a critical La Liga match. His aspirations go beyond just playing; he aims to contribute significantly to the team's success, with a particular desire to win the Champions League. 

His enthusiasm is also fuelled by the prospect of playing alongside renowned names like Robert Lewandowski and fellow Brazilian, Raphinha.

"I'm calm. I try not to think too much, not to go any further. I just want to help the club as much as I can to win as many titles as possible. 

"This one is clear to me: winning the Champions League would be my biggest dream. I really want to do things well and win as much as possible with Barca. I'm looking forward to learning and enjoying the best in the world."

"Yes, of course. They're all very good, but I'm really looking forward to playing with Lewandowski. And of course with Raphinha too. I'll be fulfilling a dream," Roque added about his new teammates.

As Barcelona gears up for a string of important fixtures, including Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup matches, all eyes will be on Roque and how he integrates into Xavi's setup. 

His combination of talent, ambition, and reverence for the club suggests that Barcelona may have found another gem to bolster their quest for domestic and European glory.
