Vincent Enyeama: Super Eagles legend teases AFCON reunion to help Uzoho
Vincent Enyeama, the former goalie for the Super Eagles, has hinted subtly that he would rejoin the Nigerian national team as the 25 players selected are set for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Enyeama stated on social media that he would be in camp with the players and staff of Nigeria.
Why Enyeama retired from Super Eagles
2015 saw the shocking announcement of the 41-year-old's retirement following more than 100 outings.
Enyeama stated in later interviews that he felt disrespected and mistreated, which is why he quit the squad.
Additionally, Enyeama disclosed that he no longer watches Eagles games.
Enyeama to Super Eagles AFCON team?
Prior to the team's training camp in the United Arab Emirates for AFCON 2023, he might now be prepared to return.
Enyeama responded to a post on the Super Eagles' official Instagram account regarding their AFCON preparations and said, “Let’s go, See you in camp. Time for business.”
Can Enyeama help Uzoho at the AFCON
Nigerian football supporters have been dissatisfied with the Super Eagles' goalkeeping unit in previous years.
Since taking over, Jose Peseiro, the coach, has not given any other goalkeepers the opportunity to establish themselves, and Francis Uzoho has not been dependable.
The Super Eagles will start training as they camp in the United Arab Emirates and the AFCON tournament begins in twelve days.
The former Lille goalkeeper's remark seems to indicate that he and the team have gotten back together.
It's also unclear if Enyeama will serve as Jose Peseiro's goalkeeping coach.
