According to The Mirror, the transfer is on hold and under threat due to a disagreement between Bologna and Basel over the player's sell-on fee.

Despite Calafiori already agreeing to terms with Arsenal, Bologna are threatening to cancel the deal altogether.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta had identified Calafiori as the ideal candidate to bolster the defence ahead of next season, with the aim of ending their 20-year wait for a Premier League title, and stop Manchester City from winning it for a 5th successive season.

Arteta is eager to provide competition and depth to his backline, but this latest development has cast doubt over the transfer.

The 18-year-old is set to arrive in Manchester in the coming days to undergo medical checks ahead of a move that could be worth up to 60 million pounds.
