Transfer News: Arsenal turn to Barcelona to land dream signing for Mikel Arteta

Barcelona's Dutch midfielder, Frenkie de Jong could be sold this summer, according to reports emerging from Spain.

The Catalan giants are reportedly willing to let him go for a fee of around £51million, a price tag that could tempt Arsenal to make a move.

The Gunners are actively seeking to bolster their midfield options, with Mikel Merino being the most likely candidate to arrive.

However, some concerns have been raised within the club regarding Merino's age, as he is already 28.

Manager Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his midfield, aiming to find a player who can complement Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard effectively.

While Arsenal have Thomas Partey and Jorginho in their ranks, Partey's future is uncertain with only one year remaining on his contract, and Jorginho will turn this season.

According to Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto, Barcelona are open to selling De Jong for £51million (€60m), excluding add-ons.

Manchester United, who have previously shown strong interest in the midfielder, seem to be focused on other signings at present, potentially leaving the door open for Arsenal to make a move.
