Tobi Amusan: Nigerian champion faces US and Jamaican champions at Silesia Diamond League
Fresh from competing at their various national championships last week, Tobi Amusan will face other top national champions at the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday, July 16.
Amusan blazed to her third consecutive national title in 12.70s after having busy schedules at Lausanne and Stockholm Diamond Leagues.
In Stockholm, the World Record holder got her first Diamond League win of the season under wrap, reigning supreme in the women's 100m Hurdles in an impressive 12.52s (0.9). This was after losing to Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in Lausanne.
Having two consecutive wins now, Amusan will be gunning for her third against tough competitors such as newly crowned US Champion Nia Ali.
The 33-year-old won her first US title in a Season's Best (SB) of 12.37s, stunning former WR holder Keni Harrison for the famous victory.
Harrison, also listed in the stacked lineup in Silesia, will aim for revenge against Ali and a worthy win against Amusan.
Consequently, Jamaica's new champion Megan Tapper is on the stiff list and will have a fresh confidence boost challenging the big guns after racing to a Personal Best (PB) of 12.44s in Jamaica.
And then completing the stacked start list are Jamaica's former world champion, Danielle Williams, US sensation Tia Jones, South Africa's Marione Fourie, and Poland's Pia Skrzyszowska.
The winner will aim to erase Camacho-Quinn's Meeting Record of 12.34s.
