Babangida turned 50 years old on Monday, September 25, 2023.
The official Super Eagles social media platforms celebrated the decorated defender with a graphic.

Tijani Babangida was a Super Eagles great
Babangida, a winger on the field, was known for his quickness and spent most of his professional career with Eredivisie giants Ajax.
He also featured for teams such as Roda JC, VVV-Venlo, Gençlerbirliği, Vitesse, Al-Ittihad and Changchun Yatai.

Babangida made 36 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria from 1994 to 2004 and contributed five goals.
He is remembered for his role as Nigeria won the Gold medal in the men's football events at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, United States of America (USA).
