Super Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi returned to action for Nottingham Forest against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City

10-man City defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the first half thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland.

The win gives Pep Guardiola's side six victories in a row in the Premier League and extends their advantage at the top of the standings.

Awoniyi featured for 75 minutes in the game before he was substituted for Chris Wood.

Awoniyi had been on a streak of goal contributions, either scoring or providing an assist before the loss to Manchester City.

After the defeat, Awoniyi took to his official social media platforms to share his thoughts.

Awoniyi charged Nottingham Forest to bounce back with a message that said, "We go again."

Awoniyi is expected to return to action when Nottingham Forest takes on Brentford in their next Premier League fixture scheduled for Sunday, October 1, 2023.
