Super Eagles' newly appointed head coach Finidi George rejects Amuneke and Amokachi as assistant manager
Since the departure of AFCON finalist Jose Peseiro, the head coach position of the Super Eagles was left vacant.
However, last week, the Nigerian Football Federation announced the appointment of Finidi George as the new Super Eagles head coach.
Finidi’s assistant manager search
According to reports from the Guardian, Finidi was informed that he is free to select his assistants, although the NFF suggested Emmanuel Amuneke, Daniel Amokachi, Michael Nsien, and Usman Abdallah as potential candidates.
However, a recent report claims that Finidi is open to working with Nsien, the current coach of the USA under-21 team.
Amuneke and Amokachi are old teammates of the new Nigeria head coach and have worked under previous Super Eagles coaches.
However, Finidi has allegedly claimed that he is not interested in working with any of the top three candidates that the NFF has suggested
Finidi will resume his coaching duties next week ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and one of the main items on his schedule will be selecting his assistant.
