Sporting Lagos wrote their names into the history books on Sunday by recording their biggest-ever win in the Nigerian Premier Football League, thumping Southwest rivals Remo Stars 4-1.
The newly promoted side was in inspired form at their home ground, swatting aside Remo with a devastating attacking display led by former Stars striker Junior Lokosa.
Sporting Lagos spank Remo Stars
Lokosa opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half against his old employers to set Sporting on their way.
New signing, Paschal Durugbor, then doubled the advantage before Remo pulled one back via an own goal to stay in the game at the break.
The game's standout moment came when Philip Kehinde acrobatically fired home a sublime bicycle kick to make it 3-1 to the rampant Tech Boys moments after the restart.
There was still time for Isaac Annor to get in on the act and increase Sporting's lead to wrap up a brilliant and famous win for Sporting.
This 4-1 scoreline represents Sporting's biggest win since gaining promotion to the Nigerian top flight. Their impressive dismantling of one of the division's more established sides will have certainly turned heads across the league.
For Remo, who finished as runners-up last season, this heavy defeat will be a chastening experience as Sporting's confident and clinical performance simply blew them away.
