‘Some Are Just Coming to Make Noise’ Shabana Coach Okidi Urges Fans to Back Team After Third Straight Defeat
Peter Okidi has teared into a section of Shabana fans over their behaviour after his charges were subjected to a third-consecutive SportPesa League defeat in Kisii on Wednesday, losing 2-1 to AFC Leopards.
After Austin Odongo had put them into an early lead, Victor Omune leveled the scoring for the visitors after James Kinyanjui’s delivery forced Shabana into conceding an own goal.
Shabana have now gone four consecutive games without a win since drawing 1-1 with Tusker in early October. They lost 2-1 to Posta Rangers, 1-0 to Mathare United and then lost to Ingwe, who have yet to lose a single game this season.

Naturally, the defeat sparked the ire of several Shabana fans, who voiced their concern over their recent run of defeats.
Coach Okidi, however, called for calm, saying the team needs encouragement rather than condemnation during this difficult spell.
“We are doing everything, but this is maybe our lean moment. I know we will rise up,” Okidi told Azam TV after the match.
“I just have to encourage the boys. I am sure we will bounce back. They must suffer through the criticism. There are a couple of fans out there though who are just coming to the pitch to make noise.”
The tactician, who guided the Glamour Boys to top-flight promotion last season, drew parallels with their previous campaign, urging supporters to stay patient.
Please Stay Patient - Okidi
Shabana have lost a number of key players to injury, including Keith Imbali and instrumental winger Brian Michira, which has naturally affected their momentum.
Okidi has called for patience as he hopes to get all his key players fit in order to get them back in contention for the Premier League title.
“I remember there was a time we were like this last season but we rose again. It is our turn to suffer, but soon, we will be smiling again,” he added. “We just have to work hard and focus on the next game. Those are songs we have to get used to.”
Shabana currently sit near the bottom half of the Premier League table, struggling for consistency despite flashes of promise in attack. The pressure has mounted on Okidi and his players, but the coach remains optimistic that his side will rediscover their rhythm with better finishing and focus in upcoming fixtures.
The team next faces Kariobangi Sharks—a side also battling for mid-table stability—where Okidi hopes to see a more clinical and composed performance.
“We have the quality; we just need belief,” he said. “Our fans must remember we are all fighting for the same badge. Let’s stick together.”
