Peter Okidi has revealed the crucial reason behind his side's back to back losses after being stunned by Posta Rangers in Gusii Stadium on Wednesday.

Shabana coach Peter Okidi has voiced growing concern over his side’s mounting injury crisis following their shock 2-1 home defeat to Posta Rangers at Gusii Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Goals from Brian Marita just before halftime and Teddy Trevor late in the second half sealed the win for Posta Rangers, despite Victor Omondi’s late penalty offering a glimmer of hope for the hosts.

The defeat marked Shabana’s first home loss of the campaign and left fans at the packed Gusii Stadium visibly frustrated.

Already without key players such as captain George Orako and winger Brian Michira, Okidi’s troubles deepened when Mark Otieno was forced off injured midway through the second half.

We Need to Show More Character -Okidi

Speaking to Azam TV after the game, the Shabana boss admitted his growing frustration over the team’s injury woes, which have begun to affect both performance and consistency.

“It was an even game for both sides who attacked each other. They took their chances and we did not,” said Okidi.

“We had a penalty that brought us back into the game, but we didn’t make it count. It’s a wake-up call because we’ve been used to winning here, but today we lost — and that shows we must question ourselves as players and coaches.”

The coach did not shy away from criticizing his side’s mentality, urging his players to show more personality and accountability after a disappointing display at home.

“This was a game that needed a lot of character. Those players that came in today need to look at themselves in the mirror and analyze their performances before we even give them their scorecard.”

A Big Worry

On the growing list of injuries, Okidi said the situation was beginning to take a toll on the squad’s balance.

“It is a concern because it’s adding to the injuries we already have. Those who are out don’t look like they’ll be back soon,” he admitted.

Youngster Humphrey Obino, a Kenya U20 international signed from Murang’a Seal, replaced Otieno during the match and earned praise from his coach for his spirited effort, though Okidi challenged him to rise to the occasion.

“He did well when he came on for Mark, but he must step up to fully fill his boots,” Okidi stated.

With Shabana’s depth now under serious test, Okidi’s focus will turn to managing his depleted squad before their next league fixture — as the Glamour Boys look to bounce back from a tough home loss that exposed both their physical and mental fragility.
