In exactly one week, East Africa will be the centre of attraction as the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) takes place.

Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are co-hosting the tournament in what is a dress rehearsal for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which the three nations will jointly stage.

Already, preparations are in top gear and after months of waiting, tickets have gone on sale this week in all the three countries with Kenya having been the first nation to open up the purchase.

The tournament, set to kick off on August 2 with the opening ceremony and first match in Dar es Salaam, and end with the closing ceremony and final in Nairobi on August 30, will be staged at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium (Tanzania), Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadiums (both in Kenya), Mandela National Stadium (Uganda) and Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

Kenya

In Kenya, ticket prices are going for Ksh200 for regular seats, Ksh500 for VIP and Ksh1,000 for VVIP and unlike thought before, they are not the most expensive tickets among the three countries.

Fans who wish to watch matches in Kenya, which will include Group A fixtures that involve Harambee Stars, Angola, Zambia, Morocco and DR Congo can purchase them at https://chan.mookh.com.

Tanzania

In Tanzania, fans can purchase tickets for Group B (Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic) and Group D (Senegal, Congo, Sudan, Nigeria) matches that will be staged in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar respectively at https://chantz.kimtandao.co.tz/.

Tickets in Tanzania and Zanzibar are going for Tsh2,000 (around Ksh100) for regular, Tsh5,000 (around Ksh250) for VIP B and Tsh10,000 (around Ksh500) for VIP A.

Uganda

In Uganda, matches will be played at Kampala’s iconic Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) with Group C (Uganda, Niger, Guinea, Algeria, South Africa) ties as well as the third-place playoff set to be staged here.

There are murmurs of discontent among Ugandans over ticket prices as they have been set at Ush10,000 (around Ksh359) for regular, Ush30,000 (around Ksh1,000) for VIP and Ush50,000 (around Ksh1,700) for VVIP, all being purchased at https://chan.mookh.com.

That makes Uganda the country with the most expensive tickets among the three countries with Tanzania having the cheapest.

The low prices are designed to attract as many fans as possible into the stadiums to experience the best of African football.
