The Kenyan rugby fraternity is in a state of shock following the sad news that Northern Suburbs Women skipper Bernadette Olesia has succumbed to illness at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital on Tuesday morning.
Olieisa was a key member of Dennis Mwanja’s Kenya Lionesses team that finished second at the Rugby Africa Womens’ Cup in 2023 in May this year.
In a statement released by Northern Suburbs, the club are saddened by the demise of “a great player in Kenya women’s rugby”.
“We have lost a great player in the Kenya Women’s rugby fraternity. The team is in shock and mourns the great loss,” the statement read.
“Kindly keep her family in prayers at this difficult time. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
Full details of the reason behind her death will be revealed later upon consultation with Olieisa’s family.
