Sheikh Jassim reportedly promises HUGE boost to Manchester United's transfer budget
Sheikh Jassim has reportedly promised to increase Manchester United's transfer budget heading into the summer's busy transfer period should his bid to become Red Devils owner prove successful.
The Qatari billionaire has been firmly in the running to purchase Manchester United since the Glazers announced their intentions to sell in November last year. INEOS owner and the UK’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also in the race as the two go head to head.
Man United to get extra transfer funds from Sheikh Jassim
According to Mirror Football, Sheikh Jassim has promised to wipe the club’s current debt if his takeover is successful.
At the moment, United are paying debt interest payments of around £50m-per-year. With the debt being paid off, that would mean an additional £50m being put into the club’s coffers per year.
Ten Hag needs the funds
Erik ten Hag could certainly benefit from the extra infusion of cash with the club currently struggling to bring in the high-quality players identified by the manager.
United have been linked with the likes of Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen but the huge transfer fees involved makes such moves unlikely.
