Sha'Carri Richardson was handed her first 100m loss of the season by NCAA champion Julien Alfred at the Gyulai István Memorial in Hungary.

Alfred had her perfect trademark start and powered through to the finish line denying Richardson any chance of chasing her down and snatching a win as she did at the Silesia Diamond League.

The St Lucian star athlete clocked a fast 10.89s (0.7) - her third-fastest time this season ahead of Richardson in 10.97s and Tamari Davis third in 11.02s.

It's Alfred's first professional meet after dominating the NCAA circuit, and defeating the US champion and bronze medallist Davis in such emphatic style is a strong case of her readiness to be in the discussion for a podium finish at the World Championships in Budapest.
