Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr have reportedly identified Barcelona’s youngster Marc Bernal as an ideal target to bolster their midfield options.

AL Nassr’s interest

The 18-year-old had a bright start to his Barcelona senior career in the opening games of last season. However, he suffered an unfortunate anterior cruciate ligament injury, which sidelined him for the rest of the campaign.

He has returned to fitness and is expected to get his first minutes of the season this weekend against Valencia. Still, Al Nassr are willing to take a chance on him and are weighing up a move, according to MD, per GFNS

Unique market opportunity

The Saudi Pro League transfer window closed by midday on Wednesday, September 10. However, it remains open for the signings of footballers younger than 21. Bernal falls under that category.

However, it is unlikely the Blaugrana will sanction the move, as Bernal is a huge prospect for the present and future. Also, unlike Inigo Martinez, who Al Nassr managed to convince to leave Barcelona and join them, Bernal is La Masia-bred and is keen on succeeding at the club.

Barcelona have dominated recent meetings, winning four of their last five encounters, including a 5-0 Copa del Rey thrashing in February.
