Rio Ferdinand claims Chelsea will regret letting Mount leave

This summer, Erik ten Hag's team attempted to acquire Mount but was repeatedly turned down. After five attempts, they finally received a price. 

Manchester United signed Mason Mount for £60 million and agreed to a five-year deal and £250,000 per week contract, with an additional year's option.

The Man United legend Rio Ferdinand was pleased with the signing of Mason Mount but also said Chelsea has lost a huge talent and may regret letting him leave.

The former Man United captain has said that the decision to let Mason Mount leave Stamford Bridge could come back to hunt them.

Ferdinand continues on his Twitter page as reported by Daily Mail, “I actually think in time Chelsea will regret selling Mount. Now for a No.9….”

As previously reported by Daily Mail, there was a contract standoff between Mount and Chelsea because of a sizable difference in the parties' positions during discussions.

Although Mauricio Pochettino wanted to keep him, the club wasn't ready to satisfy this demand, thus he has since left as they tried to recover a sizable sum for their academy graduate.

Ferdinand, a former player for United, commended the team for its efforts in finalising a deal for the England international.

Ferdinand said on his Twitter page, as reported by Daily Mail, “Really pleased with Mount coming in. Young, talented and hungry. He has the experience of big games with pressure which comes when playing for Utd.

“As a player, he will bring us goals, creativity, a work ethic and a willing runner into the opposition box. 

“He definitely adds to what we have in the squad and is different from the others in midfield.”
