Record-breaking queen Melissa Jefferson-Wooden extends unbeaten form at Diamond League in Silesia
In her first European race this season, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden proved yet again why she is unarguably the best female sprinter in the world presently, by dropping another jaw-dropping performance at the Diamond League in Silesia.
The newly crowned US champion showed that her fast times this season and her national title-winning personal best of 10.65s were no fluke, as she outclassed the rest of the star-studded field to win the women's 100m event in her second Diamond League race of the year.
Jefferson-Wooden, having her trademark bullet start, led from the blast of the whistle, stirring clear from the field with each stride, before crossing the finish line in a new meeting record of 10.66s (0.1).
Jamaica's sprint star Tia Clayton, who has just returned from injury, ran a new Personal Best (PB) of 10.82s to finish second, while Marie Josée Ta Lou-Smith continued with her impressive form this season, clocking a Season's Best (SB) of 10.87s for third. Tina Clayton placed fourth in 10.91s, Jacious Sears fifth in 11.00s, and Sha'carri Richardson sixth in a SB of 11.05s.
