Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham wins Laureus Breakthrough Award
England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been awarded the 2024 Laureus World Sports Breakthrough of the Year.
Bellingham's Achievement
The 20-year-old has made a significant impact since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund last summer for £89 million. Bellingham has emerged as a key player for Real, scoring 17 goals in La Liga this season, including the winning goal against Barcelona in El Clasico last Sunday.
Additionally, he played a crucial role in Real Madrid's victory over Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final, helping his team advance on penalties.
Laureus Awards Winners
In addition to Bellingham's award, Novak Djokovic won the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award for the fifth time, while Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati claimed the women's equivalent.
The Spain women’s football team was named Team of the Year, and gymnast Simone Biles won the Comeback of the Year award. Diede de Groot was awarded Sportsperson of the Year with a disability, and Arisa Trew received the Action Sportsperson of the Year award. The Sport for Good award went to Fundacion Rafa Nadal.
