Real Madrid midfielder could join fierce rivals in the summer

Atletico Madrid are in the market for reinforcements as they look to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid next season and they have reportedly identified Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos as a viable option.

Spanish outlet Marca reports that Atletico Madrid have made contact with Ceballos’ representatives regarding a transfer as they seek to boost their midfield options ahead of next season. 

The 26-year-old has enjoyed something of a revival this season, building his way back into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and getting rewarded with regular minutes over the past two months. 

After missing the majority of the 2021/22 season due to a long-term ankle injury, Ceballos is now feeling confident after making 31 appearances across all competitions.

He played a significant role in Los Blancos qualifying for the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, showing some impressive performances against Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.

Ceballos was also a huge part of Real Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup triumph, providing an assist in each of the semi-finals and finals.

With a contract extension not guaranteed for Ceballos at the Bernabeu, Atletico are now looking to prise the Spanish midfielder away for next season. 

Ceballos has often insisted he is willing to commit his long-term future to Real Madrid but it is believed that stance could change if a concrete offer is made from elsewhere  with the promise of a greater role.
