Premier League - Man City cruise to comfortable victory in opening match of the season

Following last season’s poor performance and a disappointing exit in the quarter final of FIFA Club World Cup, Manchester City were looking to get back to their best ahead of the season.

The Citzens went into the transfer market and brought in players like Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cheki to bloster their squad.

Heading into the first match of the season against Wolves, they did a decent job with a 4-0 victory on Saturday evening.

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira handed a debut to Norwegian wing-back David Moller Wolfe, who joined the club from AZ Alkmaar this summer. Fellow summer signings Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez are both on the bench.

The big news for Manchester City was number one goalkeeper Ederson being left out amid strong interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray, as reported by BBC.

It means a debut for James Trafford in goal, with Tijjani Reijnders also playing for the first time in the Premier League having made his City debut during the Club World Cup.Full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri started against his old club.

Man City took control of the game in the first half and got the first goal in the 34th minute by Erling Haaland after a brilliant play from Tijjani Reijnders.

The three minutes later the orchestrator of the first goal Reijnders doubled the Citizen’s lead before the half time break.

Entering to the second half, Haaland doubled his goal tally to give Pep Guardiola’s team a three goal cushion before substitute Cheki added the fourth to end the game.

Following the massive 4-0 win, the Citizens move to the top of the Premier League table after just the first game of the season.
