Police beat Adjumani to keep promotions chances alive
Police were boosted by the 3-1 win over Adjumani Town Council in the StarTimes FUFA Big League on Sunday at Kavumba.
Veteran striker Herman Wasswa unlocked the game after 40 minutes of barrenness; Hassan Kikoyo quickly added the second three minutes later before the former completed his brace just before the break.
Adjumani returned a goal later on in the match but it was not enough to stop the Cops.
The win took Police to 47 points, just one below Mbarara City who occupy the third and final slot for promotion to the Uganda Premier League with only four games remaining.
“We were not conceded as such but the biggest problem was failing to score the goals,” Police Coach Angelo Lonyesi told Pulse Sports.
“This win has shown that the boys are focused and we need to maintain that as we enter this crucial stage of the season because at this time, there’s no room for error.
“The goals have given us that boost and belief that we can ypush and get the promotion,” He added.
The Cops face Kaaro Karungi away in Ibanda later this week, then host Northern Gateway, travel to Booma in Masindi and complete their campaign against Jinja North United at home.
