Petros Koukouras on why he left Rwanda's Kiyovu after just five months
Former SC Villa head coach Petros Koukouras departed Rwanda's SC Kiyovu after just five months at the helm.
The Greek tactician clarified that he wasn't sacked, nor did he resign, but walked away after both parties reached mutual grounds.
Koukouras made it public knowledge that Kiyovu is enduring financial difficulties, hence the decision to mutually part ways.
"Its time for me to say goodbye to SC Kiyovu sports," Koukouras confirmed his departure via his X handle.
It’s time for me to say goodbye to SC Kiyovu sports. Fist of all I want to make it clear that I neither resigned nor been fired. "First of all, I want to make it clear that I neither resigned nor been fired," he clarified.
"We mutually agreed with the team to leave the club to relieve the budget from my contract due to the financial problems the club is facing this season."
Kiyovu sits fifth with 16 points on the Rwanda Premier League table, a decent showing this campaign.
"I could never (have) resigned because I was not afraid of the responsibility or the difficult times," Koukouras added.
"Only five months but we managed to experience it all. I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart for their efforts, they have been amazing."
Koukouras had joined the club in June this year, having been sacked by Uganda's Villa after the 2021/22 season.
