Paris 2024: Favour Ofili ignites medal hope for Nigeria, books first 200m final in 28 years
Ofili was one of Nigeria's top athletes, with Nigerians hoping she secured a medal in the track and field event in the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.
She made it through the 200-metre heat, running a time of 22.24 and beating Dina Asher-Smith to first place.
Despite her name being omitted by the AFN in the 100-metre race, she has made it to the final of the 200-metre race.
Ofili qualifies for final
Ofili has qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic 200m final after coming in second behind Julien Alfred in the semifinal.
Before the semifinal race, Ofili claimed that she was confident that she could beat anybody to the finish line after qualifying for the 200-metre semifinal.
The sprinter, who boasted that she was going to cross the line before anybody else after she made it to the semifinal, did not disappoint.
She ran a time of 22.05 seconds, which is her season best (SB) behind Alfred, who came first with a time of 21.98 seconds.
Ofili will now lock horns with other athletes in the final and will be hoping to get a medal for herself and her country.
