Osayi Samuel confronts fans again as Fenerbahce's Europa League match is suspended

Fenerbahce’s Europa League clash was temporarily suspended after crowd trouble erupted in the stands, with Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel once again finding himself at the centre of the chaos.

The Nigerian star attempted to calm angry supporters as tensions threatened to derail the match which had to be temporarily suspended.

The game took an early dramatic turn when Youssef En-Nesyri put Fenerbahce ahead within the first five minutes, capitalising on Anderlecht’s defensive blunder.

However, moments later, the match was paused due to violent clashes between rival supporters in the stands.

Players from both teams retreated to the dressing rooms as officials tried to restore order. Osayi-Samuel was also seen confronting agitated fans, attempting to defuse the heated situation and push for the game to resume before the players left the field.

Once play restarted, Luis Vasquez grabbed an equaliser for Anderlecht, but their comeback hopes remained slim as they trailed 4-1 on aggregate after a 3-0 first-leg defeat.

This isn’t the first time Osayi-Samuel has clashed with fans in the past. In March 2024, the Nigerian international was involved in a post-match brawl after Fenerbahce’s fiery 3-2 win over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

Following the final whistle, Trabzonspor fans stormed the pitch, targeting Fenerbahce players and staff as they celebrated their victory.

Osayi-Samuel boldly defended himself and his teammates, an act that earned him the respect and admiration of Fenerbahce supporters.

Upon his return to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium after the incident, Osayi-Samuel was greeted with loud cheers from the home fans during Fenerbahce’s match against Adana Demirspor.
