Oliseh ready to coach Super Eagles again but on one condition

Sunday Oliseh, the former Nigerian midfielder turned coach, has thrown his hat into the ring, hinting at a potential return to the national team fold.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that in the wake of Jose Peseiro's departure, speculation around the next coach of the Super Eagles has been intense, with the former skipper’s name emerging from the shadows.

In an interview with Channels TV, Oliseh teased his willingness to take up the mantle, stating, "Right now, what I can say is that I am going to put my wildcard on this question,” he said per a post on social media.

“As I have also often said, if Nigeria needs my services, I will always help my country if the right conditions are me,." he added

With the Super Eagles managerial position up for grabs, Oliseh's cryptic response has sparked debates among fans and followers of the team. 

Known for his commitment to Nigerian football, Oliseh's potential return could mark a significant turning point for the national team.

The vacancy arises following Peseiro's departure after 22 months at the helm. Despite his tenure culminating in a commendable second-place finish at AFCON 2023, where Nigeria narrowly lost 2-1 to host nation Cote d’Ivoire in the final, the Portuguese tactician's contract expired, paving the way for new leadership.

As the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, searches for Peseiro's successor, Oliseh's name looms large on the list of potential candidates.
