Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal explained what Spain have to do to beat England and triumph as the Champions of Europe.
Yamal, 16, has been one of the standout stars in the competition. Spain and his team have been the best side in the competition as well, leading key metrics like goals scored and least goals conceded.
Spain vs England
They are in the final of the competition, and to crown their efforts with glory, there is one more hurdle to face: Gareth Southgate's sturdy England side.
England have gained a reputation for being difficult to beat. Although they are not as flashy and flamboyant as Spain are, offensively, England’s conservative style and set-up make them difficult to defeat.
Spain will have to be on their A-game on Sunday, a sentiment Yamal echoes. He stated that La Roja have to carry their vein of form into the game and that England cannot beat them if they play like they have.
What Yamal said
When asked, Yamal said. "Playing the way we are doing, like against Germany or France. Being ourselves, having the ball and controlling the game at all times.”
“I think we are the best at that and nobody can stop us if we do that. It is clear that as a team there is no one like Spain—playing the ball, going for the pressure—we are doing very well. In the end, putting that intensity in is key. Without it, you cannot win a Euro final."
Meanwhile, Yamal turned 17 today and stated that he would like his birthday gift to be winning the European Championships.
