At just 21 years old and in his first international competition, Anthony stormed to victory in the men's 60m final. The former University of Arkansas dual-sport athlete, who also played wide receiver, clocked an impressive 6.41 seconds to claim the world title. His victory came just three weeks after winning the U.S. national championship.

Anthony's time makes him the joint-fourth-fastest man in the history of the event. He finished ahead of a stacked field that included Jamaican Kishane Thompson, an Olympic and world 100m silver medalist, who took silver in 6.45 seconds. American Trayvon Bromell secured the bronze medal, just one-thousandth of a second behind Thompson.

Anthony Had Sent an Early Warning

“The goal is to come back with a gold medal,” Anthony stated after his preliminary heats as per NBC. “I’m not chasing a time. I learned that at a young age, don’t chase times, chase medals. So right now I’m chasing a gold medal. If I come up short, oh well, I’m a young buck. I got years left.”

Anthony, who trains with Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles in Florida, is the fourth-youngest man to win the world indoor 60m title, joining a prestigious list of Americans including Bromell (2016), Justin Gatlin (2003), and Lee McRae (2017).

His path to gold was not without challenges. A difficult blood draw during a drug test on Thursday left his arm with a significant clot. "Noah told me before I got here, be used to the unexpected," Anthony said. "You never know what might happen... Nothing can stop me."
