The opening round did not disappoint as the spotlight shone brightest on the trio of Kishane Thompson, Jeremiah Azu, and Jordan Anthony, all of whom safely navigated their heats to keep their medal hopes alive.

World Indoor Championships: Kishane Thompson's Long-Awaited Debut

Despite his status as an Olympic 100m silver medallist and World Championship silver medallist, this marks Kishane Thompson’s official World Indoor debut.

Running in Heat 5, Kishane Thompson looked composed and powerful. He executed a professional race to clock 6.56 seconds, ahead of Ali Al Balushi, who finished second in a time of 6.62 seconds. Filipo Randazzo rounded up the podium in a time of 6.63 seconds.

World Indoor Championships: Jeremiah Azu and Jordan Anthony Set the Standard

Defending champion Jeremiah Azu of Great Britain entered the blocks with the poise of a veteran. Competing in Heat 6, Jeremiah Azu showed why he is a force to be reckoned with, comfortably booking his semi-final slot with a time of 6.55 seconds.

The Briton was followed closely by Oliwer Wdowik and Yoshihide Kiryu, who finished second and third in respective times of 6.60 seconds and 6.62 seconds.

Meanwhile, Jordan Anthony continued his stellar season. Carrying the confidence of a world-leading time into the meet, Jordan Anthony dominated Heat 4 to clock 6.54 seconds.

He led a fast field that included Yoshiki Kinashi, who took second in 6.57 seconds, and Emmanuel Eseme, who clocked 6.59 seconds.

Heat 1 saw Taymir Burnet claim the win in a time of 6.56 seconds, as Trayvon Bromell claimed the win in the second heat, crossing the finish line in 6.52 seconds.

World 200m bronze medallist Bryan Levell claimed the win in the third heat, crossing the finish line in 6.53 seconds. Ackeem Blake rounded up the heats with a win in heat 7, crossing the finish line in a time of 6.59 seconds.
